Samsung is trying to collect would-be foldable buyers before it has finished naming the products. The company is offering a $30 store credit to people who register interest in its next Galaxy phones before its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, then use the same email address to preorder after the phones are announced.

The deal matters only if you were already eyeing Samsung’s next foldables. This is not a discount on the handset itself. Samsung says the credit is applied at checkout, but it has to be spent during the preorder transaction and cannot be held for a later purchase. It also cannot reduce the price of the phone, which is the part of the cart most buyers would prefer to reduce, naturally.

Samsung’s next Unpacked event carries the tagline “A new shape unfolds.” The Verge reported that updated versions of Samsung’s existing Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold designs are expected, along with a new wider foldable phone. Samsung has not officially announced those models yet.

How the credit works

The reservation step is the familiar prelaunch funnel: give Samsung your interest and an email address now, then come back after the announcement if you decide to preorder. According to Samsung, the $30 store credit is applied automatically when the same email address is used at checkout.

Samsung says the credit can be put toward eligible add-ons rather than the phone. The company lists select Galaxy rings, earbuds, watches, and tablets as eligible categories. Samsung Care Plus, its paid device protection service, is also listed as an option.

That structure is the catch. A $30 credit can soften the cost of accessories or coverage, but it does not change the phone’s sticker price. Buyers who do not want anything else in Samsung’s store may find the promotion less useful than the headline number suggests.

What is still unknown

Samsung has confirmed the event date and the reservation credit, but the actual phones remain unannounced. The names, specifications, pricing, and preorder terms for the new Galaxy devices will have to wait for Unpacked.

For now, the practical advice is mechanical rather than mystical: anyone considering a preorder can register with the email address they plan to use at checkout. Whether that is worth doing depends on whether Samsung’s July 22 foldables justify the preorder and whether the buyer wants an accessory or service that qualifies for the credit.
