Anker’s Soundcore Sleep A20 earbuds are selling for $99.99 at Best Buy and Target, an $80 cut from their $180 list price, according to The Verge’s Sheena Vasani. That is a 44 percent discount on earbuds built for people who are trying to sleep through snoring, street noise, or whatever acoustic nonsense their apartment building produces after midnight.
The Sleep A20 are not regular earbuds with a bedtime sticker slapped on the box. Anker designed them to sit in the ear overnight, including for side sleepers, and ships them with multiple ear tips and wings. The pitch is noise masking rather than full active noise cancellation: the earbuds muffle outside sound and can play white noise, nature audio, or meditation tracks.
They also work as Bluetooth earbuds, so users can fall asleep to music or podcasts instead of Anker’s built-in sound options. The companion app tracks sleep duration, sleeping position, and movement during the night. A built-in alarm can wake the wearer without waking a partner, which is a small mercy for anyone sharing a bed with someone on a different schedule.
The battery is the part that keeps the product from being silly. The Sleep A20 are rated for up to 14 hours on one charge, and the case charges over USB-C. That should cover a full night unless your sleep schedule has become a public health incident.
The Verge’s Thomas Ricker wrote in his review that the Sleep A20 helped him average nearly 30 additional minutes of sleep per night over two weeks compared with wearing AirPods Pro to bed. The Verge’s Jennifer Pattison Tuohy also reported a positive experience, saying her husband’s snoring remained audible but became quiet enough to fade into the background.
Anker now sells the newer Sleep A30 for $180. According to The Verge, that model adds active noise cancellation and blocks unwanted sound more effectively, but the tradeoff is shorter battery life.
Other discounted gadgets
The Verge also highlighted three other current gadget discounts, all in the practical category rather than the “your fridge needs a subscription” category.
JBL’s Go 5 portable Bluetooth speaker is listed at $44.95 at Amazon, a $10 discount and its lowest reported price to date. The compact speaker has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, claims up to 10 hours of playback, and supports lossless audio over USB-C when connected by cable.
Jisulife’s Handheld Fan Life8 is selling for $12.32 at Amazon, $14 off. The foldable, USB-C-powered fan can be used in the hand or on a desk with its built-in stand. It also includes a flashlight and can act as a small emergency power bank for a phone, although The Verge notes its size makes it useful for short top-ups rather than full charges.
Amazon’s Eero 6 Wi-Fi Router is down to $54.99, a $30 discount and an all-time low price, according to The Verge. The Wi-Fi 6 router covers up to 1,500 square feet, supports speeds up to 900Mbps, can handle more than 75 connected devices, and doubles as a Zigbee hub for compatible Alexa smart-home devices.
