Apple TV used San Diego Comic-Con to show the first Neuromancer Apple TV teaser, giving viewers a one-minute look at its series version of William Gibson’s 1984 cyberpunk novel. The show is set to premiere January 22, 2027, on Apple TV+.
The teaser is the first public video push for a project with a lot of genre baggage attached. Gibson’s book helped define cyberpunk’s vocabulary: console cowboys, corporate power, body modification, and data theft treated less like magic than dirty work done by people with rent to pay. Apple’s version now has to turn that machinery into television without sanding off the weird edges.
According to Apple’s official description, the series follows Case, a high-end hacker who has been damaged before the story begins, as he is pulled into a digital espionage job with Molly, whom Apple describes as a “razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes.” Their target is a corporate dynasty sitting on concealed secrets.
When does Neuromancer premiere on Apple TV+?
Neuromancer premieres January 22, 2027, on Apple TV+. Apple has not said in the Comic-Con material how closely the series will track Gibson’s novel, so fidelity to the book remains an open question rather than a confirmed feature.
Callum Turner, known for playing Theseus Scamander in the Fantastic Beasts films, stars as Case. Briana Middleton, whose credits include The Inheritance, plays Molly.
The supporting cast includes Mark Strong as Armitage, Joseph Lee as Hideo, Clémence Poésy as Marie-France Tessier, Peter Sarsgaard as John Ashpool, Emma Laird as Linda Lee, Max Irons as Jean Tessier-Ashpool, Dane DeHaan as Peter Riviera, Marc Menchaca as Dixie Flatline, André De Shields as Julius Deane, and Isabella Pappas as Mitchell.
Apple also used SDCC to promote more of its science-fiction and action slate. The company showed the trailer for season 2 of Dark Matter, which returns August 28, 2026, and picks up after Jason, Daniela, and Charlie Dessen reach the apparently safer “World 26.” Apple’s premise says that safety does not hold, while Amanda and Ryan try to get home and Leighton pursues his plan for a perfect world.
Apple’s other Comic-Con footage included Matchbox: The Movie, an action comedy based on Mattel’s toy-car brand. The film stars John Cena as Sean Walker, a former soldier turned spy who reconnects with childhood friends played by Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Arturo Castro. The plot, as described in the Comic-Con material, involves kidnapping, a nuclear warhead, and the CIA believing the group stole the weapon. It premieres October 9, 2026, on Apple TV.
Outside Apple’s lineup, Prime Video showed a teaser for Mike Flanagan’s six-episode Carrie miniseries, based on Stephen King’s novel. Deadline reported that Flanagan told the SDCC panel he was not trying to repeat Brian De Palma’s 1976 film. All six episodes are scheduled for October 7, 2026, on Prime Video.
Marvel Studios also brought casting news. Kevin Feige announced Ryan Gosling will star in a new Ghost Rider film directed by Shawn Levy, with a 2028 release planned, according to Deadline and Nerdist. Ryan Coogler also announced that David Jonsson has joined Black Panther III as Toussaint, also known as T’Challa II. That film is slated for December 15, 2028.
