Apple has confirmed that Apple Intelligence China iOS 27.3 is happening: testing begins November 4, with a public release planned for December. The first rollout is limited to iPhones, and it leaves out Apple’s newer Siri AI features.

The November 4 date marks the start of Apple Intelligence testing in China through the next iOS developer beta, according to 9to5Mac’s report on Apple’s Chinese newsroom announcement. It does not necessarily confirm that iOS 27.3 beta 1 itself will arrive that day. Apple has said iOS 27.3 will be released publicly in December.

Which iPhones can use Apple Intelligence in China?

According to 9to5Mac, the initial release supports the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 models and later devices, iPhone Air, and iPhone Duo. Users must set both Siri and the device language to English or Simplified Chinese.

Apple is starting with iPhone only. Bringing the system to its other platforms will require additional regulatory approvals, 9to5Mac reported. So owners of compatible Macs and iPads should not read an iPhone rollout as confirmation of immediate access on those devices.

What China gets in the first release

The initial set is the older, practical batch of Apple Intelligence functions rather than the company’s full current AI pitch. Apple says it will include Writing Tools, Genmoji, notification summaries, priority notifications, Smart Reply, natural-language photo search, and Clean Up, the Photos tool for removing unwanted objects.

Live Translation will work in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone, according to 9to5Mac. The rollout also includes Visual Intelligence and an enhanced Siri experience with Type to Siri.

Alibaba’s Qwen model will be available for certain requests, not as a wholesale replacement for Apple Intelligence. Apple says the integration extends to Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence, allowing users to ask about photos and documents, including PDFs and presentations, and to generate content through Writing Tools. Access to Qwen can use an account sign-in or Sign in with Apple, according to 9to5Mac.

Siri AI is still missing

The upgraded Siri AI experience is not part of this China launch. That distinction is easy to blur because the release does include Siri-adjacent features such as Type to Siri and selected Qwen-backed requests. Apple’s new assistant capabilities remain unavailable in the initial rollout, The Verge and 9to5Mac reported.

Why the China version differs

The launch follows a prolonged regulatory process. The Verge reported that Apple Intelligence was approved in China in July, while earlier Bloomberg reporting, cited by 9to5Mac, said Apple had worked with Alibaba on China-specific guardrails and was also working with Baidu on search- and Siri-related capabilities.

Those earlier accounts describe regulatory and technical arrangements around the service, rather than a promise that every Apple Intelligence feature will arrive at once. For now, Apple has confirmed a staged iPhone release: core writing, notification, photo, translation, and Qwen-assisted functions in December, with Siri AI and other platforms still outside this first deployment.
