Newegg is selling an AM5 desktop bundle for $490.98 after promo code PKC337, according to Tom’s Hardware, putting AMD’s Ryzen 7 7700X3D, a B850 Gaming Plus Wi-Fi 6E motherboard and 16GB of G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 memory into one checkout line.
The deal is pitched as a $194 discount, or about 28 percent, compared with buying the listed parts separately. For PC builders, the useful bit is not the retail theater around “savings,” it is the platform math: this gets a current AM5 CPU, board and DDR5 memory under $500 before the rest of the build starts eating the budget.
There is one small mess in the listing trail. Tom’s Hardware describes the motherboard as an Asus B850 Gaming Plus Wi-Fi 6E in one place and an MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wi-Fi 6E elsewhere. The feature list attached to the board describes an ATX B850 Gaming Plus Wi-Fi 6E model with eight rear USB ports, seven Type-A and one Type-C, 2.5GbE networking, integrated Wi-Fi 6E, two M.2 sockets with one PCIe 5.0 slot, and four SATA ports.
The RAM deal is real, but it is single-channel
The bundle includes one 16GB stick of G.Skill Flare X5 memory rated for DDR5-6000 at CL36-36-36-96. Tom’s Hardware says the pricing effectively makes that stick a $12 add-on inside the combo.
That is cheap DDR5, with the usual caveat: one DIMM means single-channel memory. Buyers who want 32GB and dual-channel operation would need a second matching stick. Tom’s Hardware points to a $204.99 retail price for another 16GB module, putting the two-stick total at about $217 when combined with the bundle’s effective RAM cost.
The same report says the least expensive 32GB DDR5-6000 kit on Newegg was $395 at the time, which would make the bundle-plus-extra-stick route $178 cheaper than buying a comparable 32GB kit by itself. That comparison depends on Newegg pricing staying where it is, because component prices have the attention span of a mayfly.
Where the Ryzen 7 7700X3D fits
The CPU in the combo is AMD’s Ryzen 7 7700X3D, an 8-core, 16-thread Zen 4 chip with 3D V-cache. Tom’s Hardware says it trails the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and sits between the faster Ryzen 7 7800X3D and slower Ryzen 5 7600X3D in performance.
The site also says the 7700X3D remains a strong gaming CPU, particularly for 1080p and 1440p systems, and places it ahead of AMD’s re-released Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which it lists at $349.99 on Newegg.
The combo’s main compromise is the single 16GB memory stick. The main unresolved detail is the motherboard branding inconsistency in the reporting around the deal. The price, promo code and component class are the parts builders should check on Newegg before assuming the bundle still matches the advertised configuration.
