Senao used Computex 2026 to show the SA9832v2, and the Senao SA9832v2 specs point to a compact wired gateway aimed at branch networking and security jobs. ServeTheHome reported from the show floor that the appliance is built around Intel’s Atom X7809C, part of the Amston Lake embedded platform.

The box sits in Senao’s secure access service edge, or SASE, gateway lineup. A SASE gateway combines network and security functions in one appliance, typically including firewalling, content filtering or inspection, VPN access and related edge security services. That is a lot of jobs for one small metal box, which is why the port layout and PCIe budget matter more than the marketing label.

What are the Senao SA9832v2 specs?

According to ServeTheHome, the SA9832v2 uses Intel’s Atom X7809C system-on-chip with eight Gracemont CPU cores, a maximum clock speed of 3.6GHz and a 25-watt TDP. The chip is part of Intel’s Amston Lake family, an embedded platform that gets less attention than client chips because it is aimed at devices such as networking appliances.

The Atom X7809C is described as broadly similar in role to Intel’s Alder Lake-N parts seen in many low-power network boxes. It includes integrated graphics, though ServeTheHome reported that Senao does not use the GPU in this appliance. The more useful bit for this design is the platform’s nine PCIe Gen3 lanes, which help attach networking hardware.

Senao pairs the processor with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory. For an embedded gateway, that gives the appliance more headroom than the bargain-bin firewall boxes that still treat memory like a luxury item.

How the SA9832v2 differs from Senao’s SA9820

ServeTheHome said the SA9832v2 appears closely related to Senao’s earlier SA9820, which combined wired and wireless connectivity. The SA9832v2 drops wireless and shifts the emphasis to wired Ethernet.

The current SA9820 configuration cited by ServeTheHome has two 1GbE ports, two 2.5GbE ports and two SFP+ ports. The SA9832v2 changes that to six 2.5GbE ports plus two SFP+ ports. In plain terms, Senao traded wireless capability for more and faster copper Ethernet.

The front of the appliance also includes two USB 3 ports and a console connection using USB Mini-B, according to the report. The rear has two fan exhausts. The unit does not contain an internal power supply, instead using an external power adapter, so the active cooling is for the processor and nearby internal components.

Why Amston Lake fits this kind of gateway

Amston Lake is Intel’s embedded version of a low-power edge compute design: enough CPU for packet processing and security services, modest power draw, and enough PCIe connectivity to hang multiple network interfaces off the chip. That makes it a sensible fit for a SASE appliance, where the work is less about display output and more about moving, inspecting and securing traffic.

ServeTheHome characterized the SA9832v2 as Senao’s newest and most capable SASE gateway model, with more system performance and wired bandwidth than earlier units. No pricing or ship date was reported, and the comparison to the SA9820 leaves one obvious inference, that this is meant for sites that want the security gateway role without paying for or managing built-in wireless.
