The final Coyote vs. Acme trailer arrived at San Diego Comic-Con, putting Wile E. Coyote’s product-liability war with ACME back in front of the audience Warner Bros. once kept waiting. Ketchup Entertainment, which acquired the long-shelved film from Warner Bros., is now sending it to theaters on Aug. 28, 2026.
The movie turns one of animation’s longest-running bits into a courtroom case. After years of rockets, traps, magnets, springs and other ACME-branded disasters failing him in his hunt for the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote sues the company. The premise comes from Ian Frazier’s 1990 New Yorker satire, also called “Coyote vs. Acme.”
Will Forte stars as Kevin Avery, the billboard accident lawyer who represents Coyote. John Cena plays Buddy Crane, ACME’s corporate lawyer. The cast also includes Lana Condor as Paige Avery, Kevin’s niece; P.J. Byrne as ACME attorney Bill Pellicano; and Luis Guzman as the judge overseeing the case.
Director Dave Green brought in Eric Bauza, a longtime Looney Tunes voice actor, for several classic characters. Bauza voices Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny and Foghorn Leghorn, according to the film details released around the trailer.
When does Coyote vs. Acme come out?
Coyote vs. Acme is scheduled to open in theaters on Aug. 28, 2026. The release follows Ketchup Entertainment’s acquisition of the film from Warner Bros., which had kept it off the theatrical calendar for years.
The new trailer does not appear to reset the pitch so much as underline it: cartoon violence gets treated like evidence. Among the bits shown are Porky Pig turning up for a “pants-less modeling” audition and Cena’s lawyer cross-examining Tweety Bird over his familiar “taw” routine. Trailer jokes are still trailer jokes, and courts have seen less tortured logic than studio comedy marketing, but the setup remains unusually clean for a legacy character revival.
Resident Evil also showed new footage at SDCC
San Diego Comic-Con also brought the full trailer for Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil movie. Sony Pictures is trying another run at the franchise after the film series, which began in 2002, grossed more than $1.2 billion worldwide and a later reboot attempt failed to gain the same traction.
Cregger wrote, produced and directed Weapons, described in the film coverage as an Oscar-winning horror hit. Sony first showed a teaser for his Resident Evil at CinemaCon in April, then brought the full trailer to SDCC. Some attendees also saw the movie’s first 18 minutes.
According to the official logline, the film follows Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier pulled into a night of survival after chaos breaks out around him. The cast also includes Paul Walter Hauser as Carl, Zach Cherry as Dave, Kali Reis as Pauline and Johnno Wilson as Max.
Cregger has said this version is an original story with new characters set inside the Resident Evil universe, rather than a direct adaptation of one game. He has also compared his approach to Evil Dead II while saying he wants it to keep the spirit of the games.
The trailer shows Bryan driving transplant organs through heavy snow toward Raccoon City General after accepting an urgent job outside “the zone” for double pay. He hits a woman in the road while arguing with his pregnant girlfriend on the phone. The audience is cued that she is a zombie before Bryan understands what he has walked into. Resident Evil is scheduled for theaters on Sept. 18, 2026.
