Expedia is promoting a batch of travel discounts across hotels, vacation rentals, packages, cars and flights, according to a WIRED coupon listing by Molly Higgins. For travelers, the useful part is less the cheerful vacation copy and more the mechanics: most offers are limited to selected inventory, and the biggest savings appear tied to specific deal pages or membership terms.

WIRED says it may receive compensation from retailers or purchases made through its coupon links, while saying products are chosen independently by its editors. That disclosure matters here because the page is commerce content, not a neutral government filing from the Department of Bargain Verification, which sadly does not exist.

What Expedia is advertising

Expedia’s summer sale page is offering up to 40% off selected hotels and vacation rentals, WIRED reported. The listing names Las Vegas and Cancun among the destinations where those selected lodging deals appear. The same sale page also includes offers on cars, packages and flights, according to WIRED.

For package travel, WIRED says Expedia is advertising at least 25% off last-minute packages in New York City, Las Vegas and other destinations. As usual with travel marketplace discounts, “up to” and “selected” do a lot of work. The discount is not a universal cut across every room, route or date.

Another Expedia deals page is advertising 25% or more off certain stays, according to WIRED. Examples cited in the listing include 25% off stays at the Menger Hotel, 37% off stays at Caesars Palace and 40% off rooms at Shinjuku Granbell Hotel. Expedia’s page lets users search by date and city, or browse destination icons and lodging categories.

Weekend trips and filters

Expedia’s Weekend Escapes page is also listed with hotel discounts of up to 20%, according to WIRED. The page groups shorter-trip offers across hotels, vacation rentals and flights. WIRED describes examples ranging from Manhattan hotel stays to all-inclusive Mexico vacation packages.

Beyond coupon-style discounts, Expedia’s booking interface includes filters for trip preferences such as pet-friendly stays, spa properties and cabins, according to WIRED. The marketplace also covers hotel stays, car rentals, flights and vacation packages.

How OneKey changes the math

Expedia’s OneKey loyalty program lets members earn and use OneKeyCash across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, according to WIRED. Members get at least 2% back in rewards on eligible bookings for hotels, rentals, flights or activities.

WIRED says $1 in OneKeyCash can be used as $1 toward eligible travel purchases such as hotels, car rentals and flights. The listing also says OneKey members can get 10% or more off more than 500,000 stays worldwide, and up to 30% off when adding a hotel stay to a booked flight.

Higher OneKey tiers can add perks such as free room upgrades at selected VIP Access properties and price-drop protection on Expedia flight bookings, according to WIRED. Expedia is also advertising OneKey credit cards with $350 in OneKeyCash after $3,000 in purchases during the first three months, plus a $100 OneKeyCash anniversary bonus, WIRED reported.
