Ford says the Fathom is the first vehicle built on its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform. The company is taking signups for updates now and says preorders will begin in early 2027. Its product page places the truck’s arrival in 2027, without giving a more specific delivery date.

No. Ford lists $28,350 as the starting MSRP and says that figure excludes destination and delivery, as well as dealer documentation fees. Independent reports put Ford’s destination and delivery charge at $1,595. Adding that stated charge brings the figure to $29,945.
That $29,945 is MSRP plus destination and delivery, not an out-the-door price. The material available does not establish taxes, registration costs or dealer fees, all of which can change what a buyer ultimately pays.
Ford has not published the final design, battery capacities, range estimates or trim lineup, according to Motor1. Those gaps leave the base-price claim hard to assess against other EVs until the company releases the underlying hardware and equipment details.
What has Ford confirmed about the Fathom?
Ford says every Fathom will be BlueCruise-capable for hands-free highway driving. The company also lists bidirectional power capability, a large touchscreen with Apple Maps-powered navigation, Digital Key and Ford app remote controls among the vehicle’s features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility will be standard, Ford says.
The automaker projects that the Fathom will provide more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4. That is a Ford projection, not a published measurement. Ars Technica separately reported that the pickup is expected to be roughly Maverick-sized externally, while having a more streamlined shape. Neither Ford’s passenger-volume claim nor the reported exterior comparison substitutes for final dimensions.
The platform matters because it is Ford’s planned foundation for a new line of electric vehicles. Ars Technica reports it uses a zonal electronics design, consolidating functions that would otherwise be handled by many separate control units into a smaller set of computers. Ford has not provided the Fathom’s full specification sheet, so claims about the platform’s eventual cost or performance will have to wait for more than a nameplate page and an MSRP.
