LG’s 27-inch UltraGear 27GX704A-B gaming monitor is selling for $379.99 at Amazon and through LG, putting a glossy OLED gaming display below $400. The listings show the price as about $70 below the recent $449 tag. The monitor launched at $799.99, according to LG’s pricing history, though it has been available for less than $500 since May.
The deal is notable because this is not the usual bargain-bin OLED configuration. The 27GX704A-B uses a WOLED panel with a glossy coating and a 2560 x 1440 resolution. At this price, many OLED gaming monitors use QD-OLED panels, which can show blacks with a slight blue cast. LG’s panel choice is aimed at deeper-looking blacks, while the glossy finish helps colors look more saturated.
That tradeoff comes with the usual glossy-screen caveat: reflections are more visible in bright rooms. The product pitch is clearly for users who care about contrast and color pop and can control lighting around the desk. That describes a lot of gaming setups, and a smaller number of sun-blasted home offices.
Fast panel, modern ports
LG lists the monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate support, Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. The company also claims a 0.03ms response time, a figure common in OLED monitor marketing because OLED pixels can switch much faster than most LCD pixels. The practical point is simpler: this is built for high-frame-rate PC gaming rather than office spreadsheets with occasional Valorant.
The port selection is also stronger than the price might suggest. LG lists two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 connection, and USB-A ports. That gives buyers room for a gaming PC, consoles, and peripherals without turning the back of the desk into a dongle habitat.
The stand supports height adjustment, tilt, swivel, and rotation into portrait orientation. The monitor also supports VESA mounting, so buyers who already use a monitor arm can skip the bundled stand.
Where the discount stands
As with any monitor deal, the useful comparison is less about the sticker discount and more about the spec mix. A 27-inch 1440p OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate is not rare anymore. A glossy WOLED version under $400 is less common, which is why this discount is worth flagging for anyone who has been waiting for OLED gaming monitor prices to stop behaving like a dare.
