Samsung has opened preorders for three new foldable phones: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The phones are scheduled to go on sale August 7, and the entry price is still very foldable-phone money: $1,199.99 for the Flip 8, $1,899.99 for the Fold 8 and $2,099.99 for the Fold 8 Ultra.
The preorder pitch is mostly store credit and gift cards, which is retailer math rather than an actual lower sticker price. Amazon is listing gift cards as high as $350 with the two Fold models, Best Buy is offering $200 gift cards across the lineup, and Samsung is leaning on its own credit system plus a promo code on the Fold models.
Samsung also changed the shape of its book-style lineup this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the larger, productivity-focused model, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is shorter and wider when folded and aimed more at entertainment. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 keeps the clamshell format of the Flip 7, with a thinner and lighter body, according to Samsung.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Samsung lists the 512GB model at $2,299.99 and the 1TB version at $2,699.99. Color options are violet shadow, graphite, cream and shadow green, with shadow green sold through Samsung’s online store.
Amazon is offering a $350 gift card with Fold 8 Ultra preorders, while Best Buy is offering a $200 gift card. Samsung is offering $200 in Samsung credit, a $30 reservation credit for customers who reserved ahead of time, $100 off with the code PAYPAL100, and up to $100 off select Samsung products.
Samsung says the Ultra keeps the general Fold 7 design but adds a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, 45W wired charging and 20W wireless charging. It can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM. The camera system includes a 200-megapixel main camera and a new 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Like the standard Fold 8, it uses Samsung’s Flex Titanium display technology, which Samsung says makes the crease less visible.
Galaxy Z Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.99 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 512GB version costs $2,099.99, while the 1TB model costs $2,499.99. Samsung is selling it in lavender, graphite, cream and pistachio, with pistachio reserved for Samsung’s online store.

Samsung says the Fold 8 has a wider, shorter body and a 4:3 inner display meant for reading and gaming. It uses a bright 120Hz OLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and the same Flex Titanium display technology as the Ultra. Samsung increased the battery from the Fold 7’s 4,400mAh pack to a 4,800mAh silicon-carbon cell, but the Fold 8 drops the telephoto camera found on the Fold 7 and Fold 8 Ultra in favor of a dual-camera setup.
Galaxy Z Flip 8
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at $1,199.99 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A 512GB model costs $1,399.99. Samsung lists pink, graphite, cream and mint colorways, with mint exclusive to Samsung’s online store.
Amazon and Best Buy are each offering a $200 gift card with Flip 8 preorders. Samsung is offering $150 in Samsung credit, plus the $30 reservation credit for eligible customers who reserved earlier, and up to $100 off select Samsung products.
The Flip 8 has a 6.9-inch OLED main display and a 4.1-inch OLED cover display. Samsung says the cover screen can show notifications, quick settings and a full app drawer using swipe gestures, and it no longer requires Samsung’s Good Lock app to launch apps from the outside display. The phone keeps a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 4,300mAh battery.
Carrier offers
T-Mobile says new and existing customers can get the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for free with an eligible trade-in on an Experience Beyond or Go5G Next plan. Under the same trade-in and plan requirements, the carrier lists the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at $200. T-Mobile is also offering the Galaxy Z Flip 8 for $100 when customers add a new line or trade in an eligible device on select Experience More, Experience Beyond, Go5G Plus or Go5G Next plans.
All three phones ship with Android 17 and Samsung’s One UI 9. Samsung says the software adds AI features including Gemini Intelligence task automation and Now Nudge, which can surface suggestions such as adding an event to a calendar.
