Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London, the company announced through its Samsung Newsroom site. The launch stream is scheduled to begin at 9AM ET.
The confirmed part is narrow: a date, a city, and the tagline, “A new shape unfolds.” Samsung has not published a product list. That leaves the usual invitation archaeology, which is tedious but sometimes useful when a company is waving a silhouette around and pretending it is subtle.
Samsung’s invitation shows a tall ticket-like graphic with a torn-off stub, according to The Verge. The remaining shape appears shorter than the original, which adds fuel to existing rumors that Samsung is preparing a third foldable phone format: a shorter and wider take on its larger book-style Galaxy Z Fold line.
That would matter because Samsung’s big foldables have long used a relatively tall, narrow outer-screen format. A wider model could behave more like a conventional phone when closed while still opening into a tablet-like display. The Verge has reported that the rumored device would put Samsung closer to Huawei’s Pura X Max and to Apple’s expected foldable iPhone design.
What Samsung may show
The Verge reports that Samsung is expected to announce updated versions of its existing Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold phones at the event. The larger Fold model could be renamed Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, according to that report, potentially to separate it from the rumored wider foldable.
That naming would be very Samsung: add “Ultra” when the lineup gets crowded and hope buyers can follow the spreadsheet. Still, the logic is clear enough. If Samsung introduces a wider foldable alongside the standard Fold-style device, it will need a way to distinguish the two without requiring shoppers to memorize aspect ratios.
New Galaxy Watches are also likely, The Verge reports. The expected updates include both the mainline Galaxy Watch and the higher-end Ultra model. Samsung has not confirmed those watches in its announcement.
What is confirmed
- Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for July 22.
- The event will take place in London.
- The presentation begins at 9AM ET.
- Samsung is using the tagline “A new shape unfolds.”
- Samsung has not officially named the phones or watches it plans to announce.
For now, the useful read is simple: Samsung has put a foldable-shaped clue on the calendar, and the strongest current expectation is that the company will use the event to refresh its foldable phones while possibly adding a wider model to the lineup.
