What Samsung is expected to show
Samsung has teased a “new shape” for its foldables, which points to the likely headline device: a redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8. Images shared by leaker Evan Blass appear to show a wider Fold than Samsung’s recent models, with a folded profile that looks more like a passport and an unfolded screen that stretches wider than before.
According to materials shared by Blass, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. The same leak lists two 50-megapixel rear cameras, one wide and one ultra-wide, plus 10-megapixel cameras on both the cover display and the main display. The leak also claims the device could support up to 26 hours of video playback.
Blass’s leak also points to a second foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. That model is said to keep the slimmer, taller proportions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 while moving to a 5,000mAh battery and a claimed 27 hours of video playback. Samsung has not announced that model, so treat the name and specs as unconfirmed until the company puts them on a slide and makes the usual promises.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also expected to appear. Leaked materials described by Blass suggest Samsung’s next clamshell foldable may have a 4,300mAh battery and a camera setup similar to the current pattern: a 10-megapixel front camera, plus 50-megapixel wide and 12-megapixel ultrawide cameras on the back.
Watches and smart glasses may get time too
Samsung is also expected to announce new wearables. Another Blass leak says a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is coming with a case 12 percent thinner than the previous generation, a Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, an 800mAh battery and a display rated up to 5,000 nits.
Android Headlines has reported that a Galaxy Watch 9 is also rumored, with a familiar design and the same Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. That would make this Unpacked less of a phone-only show and more of Samsung’s usual hardware buffet.
Samsung may also discuss its coming AI-powered smart glasses. The company is expected to launch the glasses this fall with designs from Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, though there is no confirmed word that Unpacked will include more than a demo, if that.
