The Taylor Farms jalapeño recall covers 20 prepared foods after Taylor Fresh Foods said August 9 that a jalapeño supplier, Coast Citrus Distributors, had recalled peppers over possible Salmonella contamination. The company says consumers should not eat the affected items, should discard them, and can seek a refund where they bought them.
The FDA says its investigators, the CDC, and state and local health agencies are examining a multistate Salmonella outbreak linked to fresh jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus. A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, that supplies Coast Citrus has been identified as a potential outbreak source. That does not mean every finished product in Taylor Fresh Foods’ recall has tested positive. The stated reason for the recall is possible contamination.
Taylor Fresh Foods said it had stopped sourcing from the identified grower and would use other suppliers. As of its August 9 announcement, the company said it knew of no illnesses connected to its jalapeño-containing products.

Is this connected to the Cyclospora lettuce outbreak?
Taylor Farms has separately been tied to a Cyclospora outbreak involving iceberg lettuce. That is a different food-safety event from this jalapeño recall, which concerns possible Salmonella contamination in peppers supplied through Coast Citrus, according to the FDA.
