Samsung has put a partially hidden foldable phone into a new teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, using the clip to show what it calls a “brand new shape” for its next Galaxy Z Fold device.

The video shows Spider-Man taking a foldable handset from a 3D printer and opening it like a book. Samsung does not give viewers a clean look. The shots are covered with bright lens flares, which is convenient if the goal is to suggest a product without letting people measure the thing from a YouTube frame.

The handset appears to be the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, according to The Verge. The device has been rumored to use a wider, more passport-like design than Samsung’s current book-style foldables.

That change would matter because the Fold line’s shape is the product. A book-style foldable lives or dies by how usable it feels when closed and how much screen it gives users when opened. Samsung’s teaser confirms only the broad idea: a foldable phone, opened along a vertical hinge, shown with a new silhouette mostly hidden from view.

The timing is not subtle. Samsung is expected to announce the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 and other new devices at a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, according to The Verge.

Apple may be moving toward the same general format. The Verge has reported that Apple is rumored to be preparing a foldable iPhone with a similar design, with a possible launch later this year. That remains rumor, not a product announcement.

For now, Samsung has confirmed a marketing tease, not a spec sheet. The Spider-Man promo shows a foldable phone, a book-style opening motion, and enough glare to keep the industrial design from being fully visible. The actual dimensions, hardware changes, and lineup details are still waiting for Samsung’s event.
