Hoto’s PixelDrive cordless screwdriver is selling for $59.99 at Amazon, a $20 discount from its $79.99 price. The Verge’s Sheena Vasani reported that the sale matches the lowest price the publication has seen for the tool.

That is the useful bit for anyone who bought a desk, shelf, TV stand or other box of engineered wood and tiny fasteners and then left it in the corner. The PixelDrive is a rechargeable electric screwdriver aimed at household assembly jobs and lighter repair work, including electronics, according to The Verge’s report.

What the screwdriver includes

The PixelDrive ships with 30 screwdriver bits in a compact cylindrical case. The bit selection is meant to cover common screw types rather than lock buyers into a single-purpose gadget, which is the minimum standard for a tool that wants space in a drawer.

The screwdriver supports six torque settings and delivers up to an adjustable 6Nm of torque, according to the product details cited by The Verge. Torque is the twisting force applied to the screw. Lower settings make more sense for fragile electronics or small screws, while higher settings are better suited to furniture assembly where the fastener needs more force.

Hoto also built in two speed modes. The slower mode runs at 80RPM for more controlled work, while the faster mode runs at 200RPM. The Verge said users can switch between the two with a button.

  • Sale price: $59.99 at Amazon
  • Discount: $20 off the listed $79.99 price
  • Included bits: 30
  • Torque: six settings, up to adjustable 6Nm
  • Speed modes: 80RPM and 200RPM
  • Battery: rechargeable 2,000mAh pack
  • Charging: USB-C

Small conveniences, fewer excuses

The PixelDrive has a built-in display that shows the selected torque level and remaining battery life, according to The Verge. That is the kind of feature that sounds unnecessary until the tool slows down halfway through assembling a cabinet and you realize the battery indicator on many cheap cordless drivers is a prayer.

There is also an integrated LED light for working under desks, inside cabinets or in other dim spots. The 2,000mAh battery charges over USB-C, so buyers do not need to keep feeding it disposable batteries.

The Verge also listed the PixelDrive at $80 through Hoto’s own store, so the Amazon price is the cheaper of the two options cited in the report. As with most retail discounts, the price can change without much ceremony.

The Verge disclosed that Vox Media may earn a commission if readers buy through its links.
